Faculty of Languages holds a symposium entitled: Pragmatic Trends in Translation

The Department of English Language, Faculty of Languages held a symposium entitled: Pragmatic Trends in translation, in which two of the Faculty’s professors participated (Prof. Dr. Hussian Dahee Muzher & Asst. Prof. Dr. Musa’ab Abdul-zahrah Raheem). The symposium tackled the relationship between Pragmatics in its precise concept of using language in different social and cultural contexts, and translation that aims to convert a communicative and intellectual content from one language to another by using a variety of scientific, linguistic, and artistic methodologies. The two professors dealt with various translation examples from the religious book “Nahjul-Balagha, Najeeb Mahfod’s novels, and other significant examples as well. Many models of analysis had been presented to illustrate the methodology of pragmatic translation, and its significance. The symposium was attended by the Faculty Dean Asst.Prof.Dr.Wiaam Abdulwahab Albayati , advanced staff members, students, and colleagues from different Universities in Iraq.
